A good airport to leave for Barcelona is Stansted in London. Flights to Barcelona take place at multiple times during the week and you can normally get cheap flight deals to Spain very easily on the main air ticket web sites.
There is no reason not to visit Barcelona when the cost of air travel to Spain is now so reasonable.
